The retelling of the whole of the Old Testament by a number of famous directors - the original idea of this project - predictably proved too daunting a task, and John Huston was eventually entrusted with simply telling the story up to Abraham and Isaac.

He also plays Noah in the film's best episode, which comes complete with an impressive flood sequence.

It's a curate's egg though, and a long one at that.
