A typically tough Stanley Baker thriller that follows a successful raid on a night train from Glasgow, loaded with millions of banknotes. The film caused quite a stir on its initial release, particularly as its theme had an obvious parallel in the real-life, violent raid in 1963, commonly known as The Great Train Robbery. And Hollywood star Steve McQueen was so taken by Peter Yates's snappy direction that he insisted on having the Englishman at the helm of the following year's Bullitt. Yates, of course, went from strength to strength, with 1969's John and Mary, 1970's Murphy's War and 1979's Breaking Away. Robert Powell makes his film debut as a character called Yellow.
