Movies on TV's comment of 'better than usual' must be the understatement of the year for this pulsating thriller and technically superb horror film, which is probably the best 'giant creature' film since King Kong. The director is Jack Arnold, who made a whole parcel of quality chillers in the mid-50s including 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'. This one is about a giant spider that escapes from a laboratory in Arizona. Watch out for Clint Eastwood as the leader of the bomber pilots who try to put paid to the hairy horror.
