James Mason is cast as a naval officer in this entertaining and enjoyable comedy.

It's a role vastly different from the types he played in his earlier days in such films as The Seventh Veil and Odd Man Out when perhaps only the more perspicacious could foresee what a wide-ranging actor he would soon become.

He demonstrates how deftly he can handle comedy as he organises a scheme to get libel damages.
