The Guns of Navarone

War adventures don't come any better than this cracking adaptation of Alistair MacLean's WWII-set bestseller. Chiselled American officer Gregory Peck leads a team of Allied commandos on a crucial mission to destroy two Nazi superguns off the Greek coast. The other thorns in Jerry's side include explosives wiz David Niven, freedom fighter Anthony Quinn and steely assassin Stanley Baker. Put down that copy of Bravo Two Zero and enjoy the sort of boys-own heroics that rank up there with Zulu and The Great Escape.

This blazing adventure yarn pulled the public into cinemas in droves when it was first released. The Guns of Navarone

There are fights and nail-biting action scenes galore as six saboteurs, led by Gregory Peck and David Niven, scale massive cliffs in a daring attempt to destroy two enormous German guns pointed firmly in the direction of Allied shipping.

Almost overloaded with stars, the cast also includes Anthony Quayle, Anthony Quinn, Stanley Baker, Irene Papas, Gia Scala, James Darren and Richard Harris.
