Buchanan Rides Alone

Randolph Scott plays Tom Buchanan, a drifter who rides into a small Californian border town run by the Argys, a family of notorious villains. It's a lawless place and Tom finds himself locked into a bitter fight with the whole family when he helps out a Mexican with a grudge. The feuding family have to be seen to be believed but there's a witty script and a reliable performance from Scott.

Drifter Randolph Scott takes on almost an entire town in this modest Western with cramped settings and a leisurely pace.

But Barry Kelley, L Q Jones and Peter Whitney make great bad guys, the colour photography is clarity itself, while the plot and dialogue need no alibis.
