A sentimental drama that fires on most tearducts thanks to the moving performances of the two stars, Alec Guinness and Rosalind Russell, as a Jewish lady and a Japanese gentleman falling in love. Lushly photographed in Technicolor and less successful at the box-office than it deserved to be, it was beginning of a gentle downswing in Guinness' phenomenally successful film career.
