An intriguing, if humourless, reworking of the Frankenstein theme, with Robert Vaughn playing it deadly straight as a descendent of the famous monster-maker. A New York surgeon, he has been conducting a highly experimental research project - the film was originally known as The Franken Project - transplanting human organs and brain cells into a patient declared legally 'dead'. The anonymous patient is a young man known only as 'John Doe in Room 841'. It's a bizarre combination of thriller and horror styles.
