Geena Davis

As a child, Geena dreamed of being an actress. She studied drama at Boston University and moved to New York to embark on a career, which intially consisted of sales clerk and waitress jobs.
Eventually signed by the Zoli modelling agency at the age of 23, Geena ended up as a model in the Victoria Secret's Catalogue.
Sydney Pollack was looking for new talent in the catalogue when he spotted Geena and cast her in Tootsie in 1982 - this was her film debut.
But it was for her role in The Accidental Tourist in 1988 that she received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
In 1991 she earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her role in the film Thelma and Louise.
Two years later she married Renny Harlin with whom she set up a production and development company called The Forge.
Their first film was Speechless in 1994, which flopped at the box office.They are now divorced.
In 1987 she married Jeff Goldblum but they divorced in 1990, and in 2000 she became engaged to surgeon Reza Jarrahy.
She earned much recognition for her starring role as Samantha Caine in The Long Kiss Goodnight, opposite Samuel L Jackson, before going on to reprise her role in Stuart Little 2.
