James Wong
Born: 1961
James met future partner Glen Morgan in high school in San Diego, and together they studied film at university in Los Angeles, before landing jobs as production assistants for producer Sandy Howard.
They began writing screenplays together and produced their first screenplay in 1985, The Boys Next Door, starring Charlie Sheen.
Following this, they segued to TV and landed jobs as writers and story editors for Knightwatch, a short-lived crime drama.
In 1989, they developed their skills, and went to work for Stephen J. Cannell Productions, as writers, story editors and producers on 21 Jump Street, Booker, Wiseguy, and The Commish.
The writing team truly blossomed on The X-Files, where they enhanced their reputations further, creating some of the series' most memorable stories and characters.
In 1995, Morgan and James, followed up by venturing out on their own as the creators and executive producers of Space: Above and Beyond, a military sci-fi adventure series.
A year later they returned to The X-Files as screenwriters and producers, and James signed four year, £5.5m deal with 20th Century Fox Television (in partnership with Morgan) to write and produce the TV series.
2000 saw James' feature film directorial debut with Final Destination, which was also scripted with Morgan. A year later, James directed and co-scripted the Jet Li movie, The One.
