A sort of teenage version of High Noon, over-directed by Phil Joanou, who fails to coach a charismatic performance from Casey Siemaszko as the new boy who must face the school bully in the playground at three, and wastes the talents of John Ryan and Jeffrey Tambor is broad supporting roles. With the right light touch, it could have all been rather fun, but with this effort, one feels that the lead-up to the showdown (which, of course, takes up much of the film) is simply padding. If it were on a video tape, you'd fast forward it just to see what happens at the end.
