Carmen Maura

An accomplished comedienne, Maura is probably best known for the Spanish comedy thriller La Communidad.
The daughter of the Spanish politician Antonio Maura, she made her feature debut in 1969's El Espiritu and had appeared in more than eighty films.
She has landed the best actress award in eight different film festivals and been honoured with the Spanish Oscar - the Goya - on three occasions.
Career highlights include her feature breakthrough Tigres de Papel in 1977 and she went on to work with Pedro Amaldovar from Pepi, Luci, Bom and the Other Girls to Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown.
Recent work includes the Alejandro Agresti's critically-lauded Argentinian movie Valentin.
