Rufus Excalibur ffolkes, the eccentric hero of this action-thriller, hates women, dresses in tweed suits, loves cats and has his own private underwater army of saboteurs. Not exactly James Bond, but he's just the man the government need when an oil drilling rig and platform is hijacked and a £25 million ransom demanded. The cast, with Roger Moore as the dotty ffolkes, James Mason as an admiral and Anthony Perkins as No 1 villain, have some fun with a formula story, but considering the calibre of the cast and the behind-the-scenes team, the film's a bit of a disappointment; it needed some of those spectacular Bond stunts to liven things up.
