Actor Ray Milland made some interesting films as director, but there wasn't very much he could do with this dullish tale of international intrigue. The Portuguese settings look attractive even in Republic Studios' awful Trucolor, and a good cast, including Milland himself, Maureen O'Hara, Francis Lederer, Yvonne Furneaux and that old smoothie Claude Rains does what it can to spark the stock situations. There are one or two good twists in the plot.
