Jack Lemmon plays an advertising executive who has a nervous breakdown after losing his job and Anne Bancroft his supportive wife in this Neil Simon comedy. Although replete with typical Simon one-liners and sharp dialogue, this doesn't score as highly as the strangely similar (in tone, anyway) The Out-of-Towners, which also starred Lemmon. Nevertheless, there's still plenty to enjoy, with Lemmon and Bancroft on top form. Sharp eyes will spot Sylvester Stallone in a very minor role in a scene set in Central Park. Superstardom as Rocky was only a year away...
