Definitely the kinkiest comedy of its year, 'Pussycat' has a screenplay by Woody Allen that varies from sheer smut to sheer genius and casts Peter O'Toole as a playboy journalist who's irresistible to women - whose clothes come apart at his touch. As he, too, is coming apart at the seams, he consults Peter Sellers - a long-haired Viennese psychiatrist who's more of a couch case than he is. Sellers' trouble is the reverse of O'Toole's, in that he attacks women on sight - and they scream in terror (Funny? Well, it is the way Sellers plays it). All, that is, except his mountainous wife. 'Pretty? ' he asks her. 'I am prettier than you! ' Sellers is highly comical, so is Paula Prentiss when given the chance. Edra Gale does Sellers' Wagner-spouting wife to a hilarious T. Credit Woody Allen with writing funny dialogue for everyone else and leaving himself with a role that proves rather ineffectual.
