Controversial US TV movie about a woman who challenged the Texas laws on abortion in an epic case that went to the Supreme Court. Powerful performances from Holly Hunter, Amy Madigan, Kathy Bates and Terry O'Quinn overcome the facts that this probably isn't as fully rounded or well argued a version of the case as it might be, and that the welter of talk is sometimes tiresome. But, with the help of the players and sensitive direction by Gregory Hoblit, the main participants do emerge as real human beings that you care about right to the end.
