Kevin Smith
Born: August 2nd 1970
Where: Red Bank, New Jersey, USA
Smith immediately hit the big time when he directed, wrote and starred in the smash hit Clerks in 1994.
He played Silent Bob opposite Jason Mewes' Jay - a couple of eccentric drug dealers who hang around outside a video store in nowhere town.
With the characters firmly established, Kevin went onto make Mallrates (with Ben Affleck) and the well-received Chasing Amy with Casey Affleck and Matt Damon.
Next came the story of two renegade angels in Dogma with Alan Rickman and a memorable cameo by Alanis Morisette as God.
Blair Crown Project and Big Helium Dogs followed (as well as a cameo in Scream 3) and then came Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back as the View Askew project really got underway.
Smith also has written for comics such as Daredevil and Green Arrow and also penned a script for a new Superman movie but decided to leave the project.
In 2004, he wrote and directed the poorly received rom-com Jersey Girl, starring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
Upcoming projects include directing the big screen version of the comic book hero The Green Hornet.
