Flush with the box-office success of M*A*S*H, director Robert Altman next turned out this typically bizarre mixed bag of tricks. A satire on contemporary society, it stars Bud Cort as a young man who believes he is actually a bird. Sally Kellerman is a sensual guardian angel whose protection of the youngster leads to a series of unexplained murders. Shelley Duvall, who went on to star in many more of Altman's films, made her screen debut here as an usherette with designs on the youngster. Generally well acted, but unfocussed and ultimately forgettable.
