This lightweight comedy is a cross between a teen movie and a road film, with student John Cusack rushing to catch up with his girlfriend and her family who are off on what for him should be a dream holiday. It's all pretty silly, really, but young Mr Cusack gives an engaging performance which makes it worth sticking with. Having said that, it's not as good as Cusack's earlier and superficially similar comedy The Sure Thing. The story is set at a fast pace by director Steven Lisberger, which tends to ride quite well over the many plot bumps along the way.
