Dean Parisot
Dean is a prolific television director who won an Oscar for his short film work and made the move to features in the late 1990s.
He made his dramatic directorial debut with the black & white short Tom Goes to the Bar, which subsequently earned him the Berlin Festival's Golden Bear (in the shorts category) in 1986.
He followed with The Appointments of Dennis Jennings, a short feature that starred comedian Steven Wright and earned the pair the 1988 Oscar for Best Short Subject.
Switching his focus to TV in the early 90s, Dean's flair for and experience with comedic directing served him well for Get a Life and Northern Exposure.
Dean virtually disappeared from TV by 1996, and emerged two years later, making his feature film debut, with Home Fries starring Drew Barrymore.
Although not a huge success, Dean fared better with the following year's family film Galaxy Quest with Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver and Alan Rickman.
