This lightweight but amusing musical is a rarely seen delight that's a must for Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong fans. Bing plays a wrongly-convicted prisoner who, on his release, promises a condemned murderer that he will look after the family of his victim and install them in the killer's large family home. But the house is big and gloomy, and looks haunted. So to cheer things up a bit Bing plans to turn it into a restaurant. This obviously gives the Old Groaner an excuse to drum up trade by being the floor show, ably assisted by Louis and his band. If the story's a bit thin, it matters little: the verve and charisma of the two main musical stars carry it through with ease.
