A peculiar little thriller, okay video fare for the most part, which casts deaf actress Marlee Matlin as the girl in danger after a friend steals a priceless coin and hides it in her apartment. Matlin soon finds both a masked killer and crooked police (led by Martin Sheen) on her heels. The pace of the story is sort of stop-go, not surprising when you consider that parts of it are padded out with scenery and soundtrack music and parts of it are almost elliptical, as if little bits of the plot were missing, causing the action to move unnecessarily quickly from one scene to another. Matlin and D B Sweeney (he obviously qualifying in gloom as the Stephen Rea of the Nineties' Hollywood scene) are adequate, Sheen quite interesting as a bad guy for once, though his role ends too tamely. Not bad.
