Only eight years after Katharine Hepburn and John Barrymore had knocked the critics for six with their performances in A Bill of Divorcement came this 'cover version' starring Maureen O'Hara and Adolphe Menjou. Although inferior, this remake is bolstered by sterling work from Menjou and O'Hara as mentally challenged father and loyal daughter. This was only O'Hara's second American film appearance (her debut came in The Hunchback of Notre Dame a year earlier) and, taking her chances with both hands, this handsome, flame-haired Irish actress continued to thrill and charm us throughout the Forties and Fifties.
