This film from Steven Spielberg's Amblin outfit is an American football equivalent of that baseball romp The Bad News Bears. Athletic Shawna Waldron is well cast as tomboyish Becky O'Shea who, rejected from the junior football team run by her uncle, persuades her father to coach a rival team made up of other rejects and misfits. Although it suffers from the familiar Hollywood over-reliance on bodily function jokes, this is otherwise a polished comedy with some fun performances from the adults involved, most notably Brian Haley as the gung ho dad who wants to see the opposition run into the ground.
