A depressing story of a slum mum that you'd say was ridiculous if the makers didn't assure us it was based on fact. Even so, their account of it is so impossibly one-sided as to have the opposite effect to that they surely intended: the police are all pigs, and the social and welfare workers scruffy and uncaring thirtysomethings who fail to display even the minimum standards of intelligence or understanding. But could you blame the real people behind these callous caricatures for taking children away from a foul-mouthed screech of a mothe? . Rubbish.
