Funny Ben Stiller grabs his chance to let rip in this tasty black comedy, as an adopted New Yorker, who before he feels he can name his four-month-old kid, decides to go on one of those all-American road trips to find his own birth parents. Patricia Arquette is also good value as his wife who joins him and their child on the journey, and psychology student/adoption agent Téa Leoni is also along for the ride. They end up in New Mexico, where Alan Alda and Lily Tomlin are hilarious as the horrendous real parents. The script's ragged and edgy, but the movie is always undeniably amusing in its appealingly oddball way.
