Youngsters may be amused by this pretty dire adaptation of Mark Twain's satire. When an earthquake strikes the small Californian town of Reseda, teenager Calvin Fuller (Thomas Ian Nicholas) is swallowed up by a crack in the Earth and is somehow transported to sixth century England. Taken before a doddery old King Arthur (Joss Ackland), the nerdy American manages to woo the Camelot court with his 20th century gimmicks (a CD player, a Swiss-army knife), charm Arthur's daughter Princess Katey (Paloma Baeza), before helping the good king fight the wicked Lord Belasco (Art Malik) who's desperate to get his hands on the throne. A good supporting cast includes Ron Moody (as Merlin) and Kate Winslet, but the idea was more brightly dealt with two decades before in The Spaceman and King Arthur.
