Mixing live-action and animation more freely than the Bill Pullman original, this 'prequel' about the early days of the titular friendly ghost is unexpectedly pleasurable to be with - more frivolous than its predecessor but just as much fun and with a cast as sparkling as any TV movie could wish. Everybody concerned here, from actors Steve Guttenberg, Lori Loughlin, Rodney Dangerfield and expressive youngster Brendon Ryan Barrett to composer Udi Harpaz, writers Jymn Magon and Thomas Hart and the numerous special effects boys, seems to be doing more than going through the motions. Fine fun.
