If you loved The Odd Couple, please stay away from this decades-later sequel, in which fastidious Felix (Jack Lemmon) and slob-of-slobs Oscar (Walter Matthau), now in their early seventies, find their respective offspring are planning to get married (to each other). One of the film's problems is that Lemmon has aged almost beyond recognition, while Matthau's hardly changed. They have to trek across country for the wedding and, with neither altered in attitudes in 30 years, lurch into a series of painfully unfunny misadventures that will only tarnish your memory of the original. One funny line, when Matthau refers to the sad departure of one Lemmon's wives. 'Still, I gather she went very quickly,' he says. 'Yes,' grunts Lemmon, 'she just packed a suitcase and was gone'.
