Fiction certainly reflects real life in this bitter-sweet black comedy-drama, as Richie (Craig Bierko) wins a $400,000 jackpot on an Atlantic City gambling spree, then refuses to give buddy Evan (Steven Weber), who had lent him the stake money, any of the proceeds. Poorly shot, and full of close-ups, this is nonetheless a clever, if unpleasant tale of things spiralling out of control, with skilfully larger-than-life performances that will amuse and aggravate according to the situation.
