The former foot model shot to fame as Kimberley "Kim" Bauer in the real-time TV thriller 24 with Kiefer Sutherland.
On the big screen, she has attracted attention in Old School and as a porn star The Girl Next Door.
Cuthbert lived in Canada until she moved to Los Angeles when she was a teenager and began her career in 1997 in the TV series Popular Mechanics for Kids.
While working as a globe-trotting roving reporter on the show she was invited to the White House by First Lady Hillary Clinton.
At the same time she made her big screen debut in animated family movie Dancing on the Moon.
Subsequent feature appearances included the action adventure Airspeed with Joe Mantegna and the family ghost story Believe.
In 2001, she was cast in the hit TV thriller 24 in which she played the daughter of Kiefer Sutherland's character Jack Bauer.
After a small part in the gross-out comedy Old School, she played an "American Goddess" in Richard Curtis's Love Actually.
Cuthbert landed her first lead role in the romantic comedy The Girl Next Door opposite Emile Hersch and Timothy Olyphant.
In 2005, she starred with Paris Hilton in the teen horror caper House of Wax, a "re-imagining" of the 1953 Vincent Price classic.
