Sidney Lumet strikes out again with this turgid drama about a young New York lawyer (Andy Garcia) who, thanks to a high profile legal win and his employer's heart attack, finds himself the front-runner in the race to be the next DA.
Then a new investigation leads him to believe that his own father (Ian Holm) might be involved in the widespread corruption eating away at law enforcement in the city.
Slow to the point of lethargy in places, this adds little to Garcia's CV and there's a sadly underwritten part for Lena Olin as the opposing legal eagle who falls in love with him.
