Director Martin Scorsese's resplendently epic biopic about the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, the Dalai Lama. The film follows his journey as a 14-year-old through to the Chinese invasion and the subsequent shaky coalition government and his eventual exile to India. Trivia: Both Scorsese and writer Melissa Mathison were banned by the Chinese Government from ever entering Tibet as a result of making the film.

This is a thought-provoking film surrounding the Spiritual Leader of Tibet and the eventual onslaught by the Chinese Army during I presume the reign (?) of Chairman Mao. Nicely done and a credit to its director.
