A more sombre and candid portrait of the characters first seen in Born Free in 1965, this biopic charts the final sad years of George Adamson (Richard Harris) as he fought poachers and bureaucrats to preserve Africa's majestic lions. There are decent performances all round, while Harris and John Michie, as a footloose Englishman who joins George's reserve, do amazing work with the lions. Honor Blackman has a cameo role as Joy Adamson. The real-life Adamsons met violent deaths in Kenya in the 1980s.
