A murder mystery of sorts in which ... wait for it... the butler did it! No, really. Based on a real-life story and adapted from co-director J Douglas Killigore's play, the rather blandly acted tale recounts how William Marsh Rice (Harold Suggs), a Texan philanthropist, dies leaving a fortune. But another will is discovered in which the money seems to go to a shifty lawyer (Jon Bruno). And indeed, the legal man and the deceased's valet (Michael Petty), it seems, may have conspired to forge the new will. Alas, the case and its surrounding scandals aroused more interest at the time than in this disappointingly limp screen version.
