Actor Laurence Fishburne makes his writing and directorial debut with this straight-to-video crime thriller. It's based on his own play and certainly shows its stage roots, with most of the action set in one room where half-brothers Mike (Fishburne) and Torch (Titus Welliver) hide out with old pal Tony (Eamonn Walker) before discovering that Tony now works for the man they just ripped off. Fishburne takes a while to tell his tale, interrupting long speeches with poetry. The play may have been ok, but it makes a pretentious film.
