The 1938 invasion of MGM by the little people recruited to play the Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz is the basis for this rip-roaring farce. It's a wild and woolly affair that takes a shotgun approach to comedy, blasting everything that gets anywhere near camera range and abounding with sight gags. Director Steve Rash keeps it going at a breakneck pace, and stars Chevy Chase and Carrie Fisher are outshone by Cork Hubbert, as the Munchkin who finally saves the day, and by veteran Billy Barty, wonderful as the diminutive, evil and ruthless Nazi spy.
