Glossy (although the interiors make you wonder about the tastes of the very rich) and slick slice of Hollywood hokum at its professional best with a solid storyline that owes something to the same year's Executive Suite as three businessmen - and their wives - are assessed by acerbic Clifton Webb for promotion to a top job. Smartly scripted and smartly played by the principals, with the best lines going to Lauren Bacall as Fred MacMurray's cynical wife.
