A forcefully impressive and affecting piece of history, rich in period detail and photographed with great skill by Mutz Greenbaum. There are biting performances from Sir Cedric Hardwicke and Felix Aylmer in this story of Lady Jane Grey (played by touching vulnerability by teenage star Nova Pilbeam). The juvenile lead is a fresh-looking young chap called John Mills.
