An unlikely crime melodrama, but well enough done, as one would expect from the credentials: it was written by Frederick Knott, author of Dial M for Murder, from a play by James Hadley Chase. And the director is Terence Fisher, later to make all the best Hammer horror films. Hollywood stars George Brent and Marguerite Chapman ensured thye picture American distribution; for the British contngent, Diana Dors is at her slinkiest as a blonde blackmailer, thus accounting for the film's alternative title: Manbait.
