It's just one thing after another for the hapless hero (John Mills) of this fast and baffling murder thriller, with one of the most tortuous plots ever devised. The more he tries to extricate himself from his own foolish mistakes, the more he becomes enmeshed in a web of circumstantial evidence. The suspense mounts steadily under master thriller writer Francis Durbridge's guiding hand, and most English critics were won over by the results. An excellent cast will keep you guessing throughout.
