As usual with Alistair MacLean's thrillers, there are no unnecessary embellishments to this rousing story of bullion robbers off the coast of Scotland. It's just scenery and action and plenty of both. However, there's a good role for Robert Morley, who's in splendid form as an Intelligence boss whose major worry lies in the fact that the chief suspect may be on his club's wine committee. The character of Philip Calvert gives Anthony Hopkins a rare straightforward leading man role, and a dashing action hero he makes, even though the film's really nothing special by his own standards.
