A sort of 2001: a Space Oz-yssey. But the basic concept of this adult fable, set in the 23rd Century, is The Wizard of Oz - as the title indicates. Some critics thought the resultant work (directed by John Boorman) was tinged with genius, while others condemned it as pretentious drivel. Whatever your verdict, you'll agree that Sean Connery compels attention as the `Brutal' who finds himself betrayed by his masters and vows vengeance - especially on the `Eternals' who live for ever.
