The American showbusiness paper Variety once offered $10,000 to anyone who could fathom the plot of this all-star extravaganza, typical of many such offerings from Hollywood studios in the Thirties. Bonuses here include W C Fields in a dual role as bumbling brothers and doing his classic billiards routine; and Bob Hope and Shirley Ross with the original version of the song that became Hope's theme tune - Thanks for the Memory. That plot, incidentally, has something to do with sabotage on a race across the Atlantic between two giant liners. But as far as we know, no-one has ever collected the $10,000.
