It was symptomatic of the success London Films had scored at home and in America that they felt free to splash out on Technicolor for this inspired remake of a quite routine early Thirties comedy called Counsel's Opinion. The film's light-hearted mood, in a sophisticated Cinderella-and-Prince-Charming situation, is infectious. And the dialogue, written by Ian Dalrymple, Arthur Wimperis and Lajos Biro, and wittily put across by Laurence Olivier, Merle Oberon and co, really sparkles.
