This TV movie is a timely arrival since Close Encounters of the Third Kind set the trend for pursuing the subject of unidentified flying objects. A real-life married couple, Barney and Betty Hill, maintain that in 1961 they were taken aboard a spacecraft and were medically examined, following which they both suffered from amnesia. Their alleged adventure was described in a book entitled The Interrupted Journey, on which the script of this film was based. The story incorporates Air Force records, and records and tapes made by the Hills while under hypnosis by Dr Benjamin Simon, a psychiatrist trying to penetrate the double amnesia.
