Director William Wellman, who made such aviation classics as Wings (the first Oscar winning film, in 1927), Men With Wings and The High and the Mighty, continued his romance with the air in this account of his own World War One flying memoirs. Two of the young aviators are played by up-and-coming David Janssen and Clint Eastwood, and Wellman's own son Bill also has a featured role.
