One of those happy films which manages to be funny, sad and enjoyable all in one sitting. It's about an illicit love affair that never manages to get off the ground. Bob Hope and Lucille Ball play the accident-prone lovers to perfection, and there's sophisticated humour, bite and farce in turn. The director handles the emotional ending with assured expertise. The Facts of Life was chosen for the Royal Film Performance of 1961.
