You smile already at the thought of Jack Lemmon as a navy officer with a crew of novices on a dangerous wartime mission. This is one of his sunniest comedies - not the best-written, but Lemmon keeps the leaky old vessel afloat almost single-handed. Patricia Driscoll, one-time Maid Marian in a vintage Robin Hood TV series, has the main female role.
